Becky Shannon

Maclellan employee Since 2005

Becky has held multiple positions of increasing responsibility during her past ten years with MacLellan.  Becky launched her MacLellan career as the administrative assistant at an OEM site in Alabama. Over the next eight years she would handle administrative duties for every MacLellan contract including two paint shops, body, assembly, and maintenance.

In July of 2012, the opportunity arose for Becky to try out her hand on the operations end of our business in the form of a group leader position in the body shop. Under the tutelage of her manager, Becky jumped in with both feet and was quickly excelling in her new role. Because of the contacts she had gained through her years with us and her exposure to multiple contracts across the site, she didn’t have to learn her customers; she had already known them for years. This knowledge of the customer, combined with lots of hard work by Becky drastically lessened her learning curve.

Becky’s next opportunity arose in the fall of 2013 when she was asked to fill the contract manager role for the body and assembly shops. The unique challenge for Becky was to manage these existing contracts following a highly respected manager (a winner of the MacLellan leadership award) who had been in place for many years, created stability in the role and operated at a very high level. For a new manager, this could have been a very intimidating situation. Undaunted, Becky accepted that challenge and threw herself into the work and into the team.

Her hard work has paid dividends. Since taking over Becky has guided a team that has had zero safety incidents, annual increases in the safety audit scores, growth in hours and sales every year, and met or exceeded contract and customer annual targets. In the midst of this, Becky has upgraded the training system, improved the behavioral safety focus, driven the continuous improvement focus down to the shop floor, improved the work instructions in both shops, and continued to focus on maintaining a solid, engaged team.

As the Area Manager for Maintenance and Engineering recently told us, “Becky’s passion for the job, detailed understanding of the work, and follow up skills make me want to do more and more business with MacLellan”.
